Sin: යකල්ල yakalla – Tam: யகல்ல yakalla
‘Devil’s Rock’ NCP, Sri Lanka.
From Sin: yak/yaka, ‘demigod, demon, devil’; and gala, ‘stone, rock, rocky place’.
Any grotesque-looking rock merits this name-calling.
There are plenty of those here as well as Buddhist cave temples at Warana, Pilikuththuwa, Uruwala and Maligathenna.
Yakalla sits on the edge of the Hurulu Wewa tank or reservoir.
