‘Windy Shore’  EP,  Sri Lanka

From Tam: vakam, ‘wind’; and  karai, ‘bank, sea-shore’.

This is a small coastal fishing town practising both shallow and deep sea fishing. Catches include prawns, sea mackerel, sprats, rays, anchovies and barracuda.

Its rich biodiversity means that the government is cautious about developing tourism despite its amazing beaches.
