सीताकुण्ड sītākuṇḍa
‘Sita’s Pool’ Pilgrim site, Bihar (Bih)
From Sita, heroine of the Rāmāyaṇa; and Skt: kuṇḍa, ‘sacred pool’.
Sitakund, near Bhagalpur, is famed for its hot springs, said in legend to have formed when Sita bathed here during her exile. A cluster of temples and bathing tanks marks the site, drawing pilgrims especially at Makar Sankranti.
The springs are also valued for their mineral properties.
