‘Sawai Madho’s City’  -City/District, Rajasthan

This is a planned city, built in the 18thC by Sawai Madho Singh I, a Jaipur maharaja.

Ranthambore National Park, only 7km away, was originally called the Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary when it was opened in 1955. Today it covers an area of 1,334 km2 and has a population of about 60 Bengal tigers. Ranthambore Hill Fort, originally built in the 10thC, is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
