Guj: સાબરમતી sābaramatī

‘Ravine River’  -River, Gujarat Rajasthan

From Skt: śvabhra, ‘ravine’, ‘chasm’; and Skt: mati, ‘carrying’, ‘bearing’.

The Sabarmati has a rich and fertile east bank but a barren west bank pitted with deep ravines.

This 371km river originates in the Aravalli Range of Rajasthan and flows into the Arabian Sea via  the Gulf of Khambat.
