From Skt: raj, ‘king’; and Hin: gaṛh, ‘fort’.
Rajgarh is a former princely state under the British Raj, Its previous capital include Duparia, Shajapur, Dungarpur and Ratanpur.
The old city is part of the Malwa region and has its own wall topped with towers and battlements.
The National Thermal Power Corporation (NRPC) has a 50 MW solar power plant here -set up by Tata Power Solar. It is India’s largest solar photovoltaic project and it uses domestically manufactured modules.
