Known for its lush saffron fields, picturesque landscapes, and rich cultural history, Pulwama is often referred to as the Anand of Kashmir, ‘Joy of Kashmir’. The region is famous for its agricultural produce, including rice, saffron and apples, which contribute significantly to the local economy. It is sometime called the Rice Bowl of Kashmir.
Pulwama was the site of the 2019 Attack which killed 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as well as a suicide bomber—Adil Ahmad Dar— from the Pulwama district.
Pulwama is also home to beautiful tourist attractions like Aharbal Waterfall and Tarsar-Marsar Lakes, which are popular with trekkers.
