Tel: ప్రకాశం prakāśaṁ
‘(Tanguturi) Prakasam’ District, Andhra Pradesh
This District recalls Tanguturi Prakasam, freedomfighter, Chief Minister of the Madras Presidency and then first Chief Minister of the new Andhra state, created in 1953 when Madras was divided on linguistic lines.
Prakasam District was created in 1970 out of Guntur, Nellore and Kurnool Districts, and renamed in 1972.
Ongole is the HQ of the District.
