Palani, one of the Arupadai Veedu (six battle camps) of Lord Murugan, is a pilgrimage destination for seven million devotees of Murugan every year.
In Palani’s Sri Dhandayuthapani temple, an annual 10 day Festival is held during Thaipusam (January-February) famous for piercings, penances, and the carrying kavadi (a decorated wooden arched bracket).
