From Mal: neṭu, ‘long’ ; and aṅkāṭi/aṅgaḍi, ‘bazaar’, ‘market’.
The modern Nedumangad market is the largest in southern Kerala. Nedumangad is also an important marketplace for agricultural commodities, especially pepper and rubber.
Nedumangad’s Koyikkal Palace is a two storey building built in the 17thC in a traditional Malayali architectural style.
