Marusthali is a 62,000 sq. km region north of the Luni River which forms the sand-dune-covered eastern part of the Thar or Great Indian Desert.

The Aravalli Range dominates in the East; sand dunes feature in the North; and the South is a mix of sand hills, rocks, scattered shrubs and limestone.
