Mal: മഞ്ചേശ്വരം manjeshvaram

‘Srimad Anantheswar’  Town, Kerala

The most common explanation is that the town is named after its local deity, Srimath Anantheshwar. Over time this metamorphosed into Manjeshwar.

The Anantheswar temple dates back to the 8thC and is dedicated to Shiva and Anantha-sesha the snake-god usually portrayed with Vishnu reclining on him.
