Sin: මහරගම maharagama – Tam: மகரகம makarakama
‘Rampart Village’ WP, Sri Lanka
From Sin: mohora (maha, ‘large, great’ + ura(ya), ‘rampart’); and Sin: gama, ‘village’.
Given that Maharagama is a few kilometres from the outer fortress of the Kotte kingdom this must mean ‘beyond’ the ramparts.
Not so much of a village or even ‘outside’ the city now: Maharagama is a busy suburb of Colombo.
