‘Backwater Lake’ Town, Kerala

Kayamkulam is located at the end of a saltwater lagoon.
It is home to the 18thC Krishnapuram Palace built by King Marthanda Varma of the Travancore kingdom. Before this it was known as the Odanad Kingdom ruled by the ruled its own rajas.
