Sin: කළුතර kaḷutara – Tam: களுத்துறை kaḷuttuṟai

‘Black River Crossing’   WP,  Sri Lanka

From Sin: kalu-ganga, ‘black or dark river’; and tara, ‘raft, crossing’.

The modern crossing is the 38m Kalutara Bridge which links the Western regions to the South, as the crossing here has always done.
