Sin: හල්මිල්ලෑව halmillǣva

‘Halmilla Lake’  NCP,  Sri Lanka

From Sin: halmilla, ‘Trincomalee wood (tree)’ [Berrya cordifolia]; and Sin: wewa , ‘lake, pond, tank, reservoir’.

This reservoir is part of  the ancient northern tank complex.

The Trincomalee wood tree can grow to a height of 27m and its Trincomalee tree timber has traditionally been used for shipbuilding.
