From Skt: go, ‘cow’; and Skt: dhara, ‘earth’, ‘land’.
Presumably this was grazing land.
Godhra, unfortunately, is more (in)famous for the train burning incident which, tragically, led to the Gujarati riots of 2002.
Godhra is the administrative capital of Panchmahal District,
