‘Elephant Fort’ [Gajendragarh] -Fort/Town, Karnataka (Kar)

.From Sin: gajendra, ‘elephant’; Hin: gaṛh, ‘fort’

The fort was built by Shivaji, the Maratha chieftain, in the 17thC.

Its film appearances (it has plenty of flat surfaces for on-location shooting) outdo its performance as a tourist attraction despite its splendid setting and a temple built on an eternally flowing spring.
