Sin: අලුත්ගම alutgama – Tam: அளுத்கமை alutkamai.

‘New Village’ Town, WP,  Sri Lanka.

From Sin: alut, ‘new’; and gama, ‘village’.

Not all that new.  It dates back to at least the 13thC and Thisara Sandeshaya, a 14thC poem written in the form of a message sent to the king through a swan, extols its many virtues.

This peaceful coastal town was disturbed by the anti-Muslim riots which hit southwestern Sri Lanka in 2014.
